行动党举办绝食行动，声援5名在内安法令下被扣留的兴权会领袖，右起郑文福、陈彼得、刘天球和查尔斯圣地亚哥。
（巴生20日讯）雪州民主行动党已向党中央建议，委派5名遭政府以内安法令扣留的兴都教权益行动力量领袖，代表该党在来届大选上阵竞选。
行动党中委刘天球说，雪州行动党已在两个星期前的会议上通过这项建议，并向党中央反映。他希望这5名领袖同意这项献议，在来届大选上阵，以通过选举，让政府知道人民对他们的支持。
“虽然这5名领袖在内安法令下被扣留，但在此法令下被扣留者是可以参选的。我们也希望政府能尽快释放这5名领袖，因为至今没有任何证据显示他们与任何恐怖组织有联系，他们不应在内安法令下被扣。”
刘天球星期日在巴生港口主持一项声援5名兴权会领袖的绝食行动时说，这项绝食行动是由上午8时至傍晚6时举行，也是配合上述5名兴权会领袖由明日开始，一连7天在甘文丁扣留营的绝食行动。
他促请，人民大力支持这一系列的声援行动，并表示政府之前已援引煽动法令对付有关的领袖，没有必要使用内安法令。
“行动党将继续为这5名兴权会领袖提供法律援助，目前以加巴星为首的律师团已增加至16名律师。此外，行动党为兴权会领袖筹募的款项也已超过6万令吉，其中大部分已移交给其家属。”
◎行动党雪州副主席陈彼得说，内安法令是当年对付马共所设立的。如今我国已独立50年，马共也瓦解了，内安法令已没有存在的必要。
“现今的内安法令已被政府滥用来对付反对党和传媒。之前有行动党、公正党的领袖在此法令下被扣，接着是印度族群，我担心最终媒体也将受到对付。这将严重影响新闻和言论的自由。”
他促请，政府早日释放兴权会的这5名领袖。
◎行动党党员查尔斯圣地亚哥说，印度人已非当年的吴下阿蒙，对政府感到害怕。目前新时代的印度人更清楚本身的权益，并懂得积极争取，不会再忍受被欺压，所以兴权会的行动才会引起印裔同胞的共鸣。
他说，内安法令是不公平的法令，已被执政党所滥用，并希望政府能尽快释放有关在此法令下被扣留的5名兴权会领袖。
DAP Selangor State leaders has suggested to the Central Executive Committees to appoint the Hindraf 5 who were detained under ISA to represent the Party in the upcoming general elections.
DAP CEC member Ronnie Liu said that DAP Selangor has adopted the proposal in a meeting held 2 weeks ago. He hoped that the Hindraf 5 would agree with this offer and let the Government know the strong supports from the ground towards Hindraf.
"Although the 5 leaders were detained under ISA, but they are still eligible to stand in the elections. We hoped that the Gov would release them as soon as possible as there is no evidence to show that the Hindraf 5 have linked with any terrorists. They should not be detained under ISA."
The DAP Hunger Strike was held in front of Kamunting detention camp from 8am to 6pm, 7 days continuous starting from Sunday.
He urged the people to give strong supports to the solidarity actions.
"DAP will provide all legal supports to the five, and there are 16 lawyers join the legal team leading by YB Karpal Singh. In addition, DAP has raised more than RM60,000 for the Hindraf leaders and most of the fund has been handed over to their families."
Peter Tan, DAP Selangor State Vice Chairman said that the ISA has been abused by the Governemtn to deal with the Opposition and the Media.
"DAP and PKR leaders were detained under ISA before, followed by the Indian community, I am worried that Media will be treated by using ISA sooner or later, which will affect the Press Freedom of the country."
He urged the Government to release the Hindraf 5 immediately.
DAP member Charles Santiago said that the Indians in new era know clearly about their rights and interests, and know how to actively fight for it. They will not tolerate for being bullied and this is the reason why Hindraf would arouse the sympathy of Indian compatriots.
He said that the ISA which has been abused by the ruling party is not a fair act. He urged the Government to release all five detained.
