Ronnie Liu: Not to print misleading leaflets

DAP urged the printing companies not to print the misleading leaflets, and urged that the public to distinguish between right and wrong. From the Left 4th and 5th are Peter Tan and Ronnie Liu.

The leaflets compared the Assembly in Batu Caves, Selangor and the rally held in Batu Buruk, Terengganu in the past.

Democratic Action Party (DAP) Central Executive Committee, Ronnie Liu urged all the printing companies not to print misleading leaflets and not to help the 'relevant parties' to spread false statements against Hindraf.

'I received a public complaints saying that a printing company in Kuala Lumpur was found printing 400,000 leftlets with the title -UMNO (BN) Supports Hindraf-', said Ronnie during a Press Conference on Sunday morning.

'The Government never supports the actions of Hindraf, and they even arrested five of Hindraf leaders. The message in the leaflets is astounding. We suspect that the 'relevant parties' might be from the BN component parties.'

He said that the leaflets have mixed up and confused the Hindraf assembly in Batu Caves, Selangor and also the BERSIH rally held in Batu Buruk, Terrengganu in the past.

He further stressed that the objective of the leaflet was to incite hatred and suspicions among the Malay and the Indian communities in the country.

He said that the leaflets only report selective news, and did not tell the whole truth. He hoped that the public will not be affected.

DAP Selangor State Vice Chairman, Peter Tan urged the Government to have fair competition with the opposition parties in the upcoming General Election, and should not use "dirty" methods in an attempt to deceive the people.

As Barisan Nasional resorted this kind of 'dirty' political means when the General Election is approaching, he criticized that it is not 'politically correct' approach. BN should not deceive the voters, "the voters should clearly see the situation and distinguish between right and wrong, and not to be hoodwinked."

DAP member, M.Manogar said, the public should be aware of the fact that if the Government supports Hindraf, then they should immediately release the five leaders arrested under ISA.
